‘ When there are two thousands years of history for a language ’.
The townfolk dialects are our daily speaking languages. They take a long time to immerge and form an layer of a profound culture based on certain degrees of human creations especially in historical, sociological, political and geographical perspectives. The townfolk dialects mainly across Canton area have disappeared due to an “indelicacy” factor, most of the time being misunderstood by people.

In fact, Cantonese townsfolk dialects should not be conceptualised as indelicate practices. The existence of these dialects is a form of how local people understand the life and witnesses the rise and fall of the change of the Times. Thereby, our initiative idea of the work is to tell the stories of people living in a ridiculously interesting life which is behind the Cantonese townsfolk dialects. Also, it shows the local people enjoy and make fun in the dialects creation process during experiencing the hard times of life. The purpose of our work is not going to tell you what are the dialects exactly mean but the current state of the society and the attitudes the local people have. We exhibit our work through animated and interactive ways to let you feel the Cantonese townsfolk dialects are recreated again.

「當壹種語言有二千年歷史。」
市井話是我們日常的普通用語，是人類在壹定的歷史、社會、政治、地理等條件，經過長期積累而約定俗成的深厚文化層。

因為俗語傳播是通過媒體傳播的，但因為有很多有趣的廣東俗語被人誤會欠缺“文雅”，因此很多俗語因沒有得到傳播而消失在民間。
俗語不俗，俗語的產生與形成是來自市民對生活的見解所創造出來的，俗語是壹個時代興衰的見證。

所以我的作品的初衷是要呈現俗語背後的生活，裏面充滿荒誕無厘頭的百姓生活，呈現創造俗語時的苦中作樂。

真正要呈現的不是每壹個俗語是什麽，而是表現當下社會的狀況與市民對生活的態度。

利用動畫的模式和交互的方式把俗語的外表和內在表現出來，體驗壹種「創造」俗語的感覺。
作品中每個場景都包含了香港當今的政治事件與娛樂生活，我們沒有在這裏說俗語，因為我們不是為了傳播俗語，是為了傳播俗語裏體驗的歷史文化和社會狀況

這才是真正的市井話集。
